What is this plant?

This plant that looks a lot like morning glory popped up out of the ground in my backyard right next to the cinderblock wall on the east side. I've looked all over and I haven't found any photos of plants just like it. The leaves don't look like morning glory, but the flowers are very similar. It looks like it really wants to climb, so I got a little trellis for it.

I can't wait to see it cover the trellis.

  1. That is most certainly an Ipomoea (morning glory); the leaf looks different because most annual Morning Glory offspring tend to revert to a more stable form. Seeds are very tough, probably dropped by a bird or other critter. We have the same in our Scottsdale garden as volunteers from the previous owner's annual Red Morning Glories...
